Job Summary

The Laboratory and Blood Services Branch provides strategic oversight, policy development and evaluation for health sector pathology and laboratory medicine services and blood services in the province. The Laboratory and Blood Services Branch is responsible for overall strategic planning, policy development, monitoring and evaluation for two lines of provincial health care business: laboratory services and blood services. In this capacity, the Branch establishes and fosters key stakeholder relationships; negotiates and implements agreements related to its key clinical areas; develops, implements and evaluates strategic initiatives and projects for the efficient and effective provision of services; and supports the Minister of Health in the Minister’s role as a Corporate Member of Canadian Blood Services, which is the national agency responsible for providing blood and blood products to the health care system.

The Manager, Blood Services manages major policy initiatives, developing, and implementing strategic policy and business planning processes and providing research and analysis in support of negotiations.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in business/public administration or a related field and a minimum of 3 years of progressive and related* experience OR
  • Diploma in business/public administration or a related field and a minimum of 4 years of progressive and related* experience OR
  • No degree and a minimum of 5 years of progressive and related* experience.

*Related experience must include:

  • Managing issues including identification, analysis, and resolution.
  • Business writing experience in a variety of formats and for a variety of audiences.
  • Reviewing and analyzing complex (multifaceted) issues, assessing options, and developing resolution strategies.
  • Strategic planning and business review exercises.
  • Negotiation experience.
  • Working effectively with internal and external partners.

Preference may be given to applicants who:

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to four (4) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
