Job Summary

The Team
The Tenures Authorizations Team is an established group within our District office, dedicated to supporting clients with forestry applications like cutting permits and wood lots. The team liaises with First Nations Advisors, Engineering Officers, Stewardship Foresters, and more. Together, we’re committed to solving challenges and ensuring permits are processed efficiently to keep things running smoothly. The Role
As a Licensed Authorizations Officer, you'll play a key role in reviewing applications for cutting permits, road permits, special use permits, and woodlots, helping to ensure timely approvals that keep harvesting operations on track. This role offers a wonderful chance to work closely with a variety of professionals across the forestry sector, giving you opportunity for learning and growth. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in the natural resource field or equivalent.
  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, with the Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) as an Registered Professional Forester (RPF). Note: immediately eligible is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the FPBC. Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be made.
  • Related experience working in natural resource management.
  • Experience in consulting, negotiating, and resolving conflicts with partners in natural resource management.
  • Must hold a valid class 5 BC Drivers Licence.

Provisos

  • May be required to operate field equipment (i.e., quad, snowmobile).
  • Willingness to conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service which may include a Criminal records check, and/or Criminal records Review Act (CCRA) check and/or enhanced screening checks as required by the Ministry (Note: It is important that you read the job posting carefully to understand the specific security screening requirements pertaining to the position).

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
