Job Summary

The Role
As the Senior Data Analyst, you will lead in data science and predictive analytics, playing a critical role in shaping evidence-based policies and strategic decisions. Your work will directly impact programs like WorkBC, helping unemployed and underemployed British Columbians overcome barriers and find sustainable employment. This is a unique opportunity to apply your skills creatively, promote innovative analytical methods, and make a meaningful difference in people's lives across the province.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in a *related field and 2 years **related experience; or a diploma in a *related field, and 3 years **related experience; or certification from a recognized institution, in a *related field and 4 years **related experience; or, 5 years **related experience.


*Related Education fields may include Data Science, Computer Science, GIS, statistics, mathematics, or other relevant specialty education as designated by program requirements.

**Related experience must include:

  • Experience at leveraging structured and unstructured data sources to conduct quantitative analysis.
  • Experience determining appropriate use of various problem structuring methods and statistical methods for sampling, distribution assessment, bias and error.


Preference may be given for experience in any of the following:

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
  • Experience with Python and SQL.
  • Experience with IBM Cognos software tools.
  • Experience creating and delivering executive-level presentations for the purpose of decision making.
  • Experience with machine learning, clustering and classification techniques to analyze diverse sources of data.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is a temporary opportunity until 10/31/2025. This position may be extended or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
