Job Summary

The Team
The Forest Administration and Stewardship team, part of the Decision Support Section is a dedicated and established group that plays a crucial role in supporting sustainable forest management in British Columbia. Comprising a Team Lead, 2 Geospatial Services Coordinators, and 2 Spatial Information Analysts, our team collaborates closely with the Forest Tenures Branch and Compliance and Enforcement Branch to provide vital geospatial services. We focus on creating legal maps, enhancing data management workflows, and developing web applications that aid strategic decision-making. The Role
As a Geospatial Services Coordinator, you will play a key role in delivering critical geospatial services to the Compliance and Enforcement Branch and other clients, helping them achieve their business goals and support natural resource stewardship in British Columbia. This position offers a unique blend of technical work and client collaboration, allowing you to become a trusted partner in their efforts. You will also have the opportunity to work flexibly with other teams within the Integrated Data and Analysis Branch. This role requires careful documentation, and there may be occasions where you will need to testify about your work, making your contributions essential to our mission.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• Diploma or higher in resource management, geography, remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), or a related field with a minimum of three (3) years’ *work experience; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Experience supporting clients and/or project teams by designing and developing spatial analysis solutions.
• Experience in a role predominantly responsible for spatial data management, GIS analysis, mapping and visualization using the ESRI ArcGIS product suite.

*Work experience can include co-op or similar work terms that are predominantly GIS work, but does not include course work and academic project work.

Preference may be given to applicants with training and/or experience in one (1) or more of the following:
• Mentoring and/or supervising staff.
• Project management, coordination, and delegation.
• Developing and revising workflows for spatial analysis projects.
• Automating solutions for repetitive tasks using tools such as Python, or other programming tools.
• Developing web mapping solutions using ArcGIS Online.
• Analysis and mapping using BC government natural resource data, including forest tenure and resource data.
• Supporting litigation when records management is required to defend analysis, comfort testifying, understanding and ability to explain data limitations.
• Four (4) or more years’ related *work experience.
