Your Opportunity
BDO Canada LLP is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Valuations & Modelling team in Toronto. We are looking for driven candidates with a solid understanding of valuation concepts and a strong willingness to learn. This role offers an excellent opportunity to deepen technical expertise and take on greater responsibility in delivering high-quality valuation services. The successful candidate will lead aspects of valuation engagements, contribute to client deliverables, and collaborate closely with the team to enhance their skills in business valuations and financial modeling.
Our clients range from Canadian and global start-ups to established businesses. We have experience across various industries, business sizes, and valuation complexities, supporting both owner-managed companies and large publicly traded corporations. Our deep industry expertise enables us to be agile and responsive, leveraging our global accounting and consulting network when needed.
Your responsibilities will include:
Participating in discussions and meetings with the management of the companies involved.
Performing valuations of various assets or liabilities including business interests, financial instruments, and intangible assets using appropriate valuation techniques.
Working in teams to develop and review complex financial models supporting strategic business planning, mergers and acquisitions, investment decisions, capital allocation, debt analysis, and tax planning.
Drafting detailed valuation reports and presentations to management.
Analyzing company and industry-specific strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to determine the cash flow risks of the companies involved.
Researching third-party databases for market, industry, or comparable public company and private transaction multiples and other information for valuation purposes.
Managing multiple engagements to ensure successful and timely completion of client deliverables.
Developing relationships with BDO's current and prospective clients as well as with other BDO service groups.
Build an understanding of the business development activities required to support the Valuations & Modelling practice.
Assisting with business development activities as required.

Your experience and education:
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or another related field.
1 to 2 years of work experience in accounting or valuations/M&A practice.
CPA (completed or in progress) and willingness to pursue the CBV are mandatory, while the CFA is an asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
