Partners closely with the Executive Committee of the bank and each of BMO’s operating groups (North American Personal & Business Banking, Wealth Management and Capital Markets) to enable leading growth, customer loyalty, and employee engagement. Drives targeted strategic initiatives that advance the bank’s growth agenda, leads BMO’s strategic dialogue with the Executive Committee and ensures performance delivery across major enterprise wide initiatives. Works with senior leaders across the enterprise to define the path forward for the Bank and ensure disciplined execution against objectives which can include cross-bank growth vectors, business portfolio reviews, acquisitions, partnerships, digitization, and customer experience initiatives. As a key member of the Enterprise Transformation team, drives transformation, supporting the development and approval of strategy formulation through consultation and active leadership. Makes significant contributions to identifying, prioritizing and resolving high value strategic and organization issues within BMO.

  • Leads high priority strategy engagements identified by the CEO and their direct reports, acting as a strategic thought partner to the business, drawing key implications from relevant analysis to develop actionable recommendations
  • Leading the development and structuring of complex projects into relevant work-streams using a hypothesis-driven approach
  • Shaping relevant analyses required to inform strategic recommendations, and providing an external perspective on known challenges
  • Actively managing working team members to deliver on project objectives
  • Effectively communicating key messages and recommendations to Enterprise and Group executives
  • Manages stakeholders at various levels, including C-Suite and Group Executives
  • Cultivates and support an organizational culture that enables high performance and employee engagement
  • Plays a role in leading other work in the Transformation Office, such as committee or board presentations as required
  • Defines need, scope and resource requirements for strategic initiatives
  • Manage interactions with Steering Committees, Advisory Committees and other stakeholder and actively manage working team to drive initiatives forward with pace
  • Develops strategic options, leads effort to evaluate options and presents recommendations to executive sponsors, Steering and Advisory teams
  • Builds high level implementation plan including supporting business case.
  • Maintains a deep understanding of the corporate initiatives of the bank and recommend a future orientated strategies and tactics to Senior Executive Management to maximize shareholder value.
  • Supports strategic initiatives for other Banking/Corporate groups as required; allocate resources and expertise where there is a need.
  • Build relationships and trust and integrate well within the Enterprise Transformation and Strategy & Operations teams in order to have a clear understanding of the business drivers, move the organization focus forward on the highest value opportunities and issues

Qualifications:

  • MBA or equivalent with 7+ years of experience, of which at least 4 years are in strategy/management consulting at a top tier firm
  • High level of ambition and initiative, with the ability to structure problems and think strategically within ambiguous environments
  • Demonstrated excellence in stakeholder management and organizational effectiveness in complex environments
  • Deep expertise in structuring, organizing and managing complex projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to think critically and analytically
  • Strong team management skills and proven leadership ability
  • Outstanding analytical skills with the ability to frame key analyses and tell a cohesive story required to address critical business issues
  • Strong learning agility and aptitude to work across new content streams
  • Collegial by nature, bringing a very strong team-orientation, as well as the confidence to build relationships and credibility with partners at all managerial levels
  • Demonstrated presentation, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence
  • Track record of being results driven and self-motivated with a commitment to excellence
  • Passion for the Financial Services industry and/or experience in relevant content areas

Please note the target base salary range for this specific position is noted as a range from $170,000 CAD to $190,000 CAD.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
