Reporting to the Supervisor LP Accounting, the Sr Advisor LP Accounting is responsible for leading the Liquids Pipeline (LP) general ledger group in preparing, maintaining and analyzing the General Ledger. They will be responsible for Identifying, researching and implementing general ledger process improvements, as well as addressing ad hoc inquiries and analysis requirements in support of the financial reporting processes.

What You Will Do:
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and retention of the Liquids Pipelines (LP) general ledger.

  • Coordinate the establishment and maintenance of accounting and general ledger processes and procedures to ensure appropriate governance structures are in place over the financial results of the organization.

  • Maintain the general ledger for Liquids Pipeline legal entities by reviewing monthly recurring entries, account analysis and account reconciliations. Ensures that all relevant financial information is entered into the G/L on a timely basis and reflects contractual terms.

  • Review and analyze the monthly general ledger for reasonableness, accuracy of information and compliance with Company policies and GAAP.

  • Drive Day 1 to Day 6-month end activities, ensuring completion of specific accountabilities.

  • Maintain knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

  • Collaborate closely with subledger groups and field staff to ensure the accuracy of the general ledger.

  • Provide direction and mentorship to ensure accounting policies are followed.

  • Responsible for coaching and developing the LP general ledger team.

  • Responsible for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX 404) internal control documentation and coordination with external auditors as well as responsible for ensuring compliance with our SOX controls program.

  • Responsible for understanding key controls' design & execution and recommending changes to controls if processes change.

  • Provide backup support for other assets within Liquids Accounting team.

  • Responsible for quarterly and annual Regulatory Reporting Compliance (including FERC and CER).

  • Support for ad-hoc special projects for the greater LP Accounting team as directed by Sr. management.

  • Support management with the execution of accounting activities for pipeline companies (i.e. actual reporting); ensuring information requirements, reporting and variance analysis are met in terms of quality, relevance, timeliness & compliance with accounting standards. Coordination of ad hoc management requests for various financial analyses.

  • Involved in Client Focus within the Team. Involved in reviewing client needs to improve quality of work and adding any required services to improve client satisfaction.

  • Ensure sufficient guidance and appropriate tools are provided to internal customers to facilitate their compliance with governance processes and to fulfill their financial roles.

  • Involved in the identification and implementation of changes to streamline accounting practices that will increase the efficiency of the Financial Reporting processes.

  • Act as a liaison for internal / external audits.

Who You Are:
  • Post-Secondary education in Accounting and Professional Accounting Designation.

  • Minimum 6 years post designation experience in an accounting environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills complemented by attention to detail.

  • Works well within a team environment.

  • Strong interpersonal and digital literacy.

  • Values other perspectives and respects diversity.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills combined with a results-oriented business approach.

  • Solid understanding of US GAAP & Internal Control Principles.

  • Ability to apply accounting, auditing, tax and regulatory standards and principles.

  • Solid understanding of HFM, SmartView and Oracle.
