What You’ll Do

The Solutions team is a multi-disciplinary consulting team embedded within the IT function at G&T.  The Solutions Manager will work closely with: Business stakeholders to understand their needs and develop well-defined solution strategies with a solid business cases.  IT Delivery to prepare estimates, plan the delivery approach and to act as SMEs during the project.

In addition to being consultative, Solutions Managers need to be highly collaborative and work with Business partners to enable them to define the real problem statement, develop options, pick one for business case and presentation.  Solutions Managers won’t and don’t need to have all the answers.  They do however need great listening skills and the ability to manage the business team away from simply identifying the single and most seemingly obvious solution option. 

Solution Managers needs to look outside the organization as well as inside for ideas, options and insight.  They will facilitate teams to practice customer empathy, to experiment-fail-learn, repeat and to deliver with velocity the minimum viable product. Solutions Managers need to be conscious of their own internal biases and not let these interfere with the solutioning process.

Define the problem statement and the underlying business requirements. Ask critical and constructive questions to understand the real business need. Not an “order taker” that simply documents the ask and accepts it verbatim.

Work closely with different business functions and IT teams to define business and technical requirements to enable delivery of IT solutions. You will have expertise in business analysis, requirements gathering and stakeholder facilitation. 

You will develop, document, and present the following to both business and technical audience:

  • System Requirements Documents/Functional Specifications/Workflows
  • Supplementary/Non-Functional Specifications
  • Use Cases
  • Wireframes - User Interface Prototypes/Samples

You will also:

  • Facilitate knowledge transfer to our business partners.
  • Participate in QA, UAT, deployment and training.

 

Education Requirements: College or university degree and/or certifications related to IT will be an asset.

 

Work Experience and skills required:

  • 10+years of experience in business analysis, product evaluation and vendor review
  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Strong leadership abilities including experience in collaborating with Senior Management to identify business goals, influence and negotiate through conflicting needs to “sell” a solution and its benefits
  • Ability to conceptualize complex ideas into the key artifacts required to develop solutions
  • Extensive experience with writing business cases, feasibility & alternative studies, competitive & market analysis, use cases and business process flows
  • Strategic leader able to rapidly absorb multiple inputs and develop a solid, defendable go forward position which will serve as a blueprint for the IT roadmap
  • Ability to think from an end-user’s point of view in terms of application configuration, usability
  • Excellent knowledge and proficiency in MS Office
  • Deadline oriented with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Bilingualism in English/French is an asset

 

Location

Our head-office is in Vaughan, ON.  We work from the office 3 days per week.  Always Tues and Thurs. 

You must be legally allowed to work in Canada and live within commuting distance of our office.
