Associate – Insurance Litigation

A international law firm with an office in Calgary, AB is seeking an experienced Insurance Litigator to join their team. This is a litigation focused role and we're seeking those who have exceptional writing skills and a desire to provide excellent service to their clients in court. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates of all levels with experience in Civil Litigation, Commercial Litigation or Insuranse Defense to join a world renowned global law firm.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Your duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct research and provide analysis.
  • Draft pleadings, motion materials and factums, as well as pre-trial memorandums and mediation briefs.
  • Prepare correspondence to counsel opposite and clients.
  • Prepare for and attend discoveries and mediations.
  • Appear in court to argue motions or other adjudicative hearings.
  • Attend Alberta or other Canadian Bar Association events for the purpose of professional and business development opportunities.
  • Perform certain tasks related to practice management.
  • Meet other related business needs or priorities as they may arise from time to time.

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate from a recognized University / Common Law School with a license to practice law in the Province of Alberta as a member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta Bar.
  • Minimum 3+ years in Insurance Defence, Civil Litigation, and/or Commercial Litigation
  • Excellent academics (B student and/or greater)
  • Strong writing skills
  • Trial experience
  • Coverage experience an asset
  • Private practice experience is preferable but not necessary (in-house lawyers welcome to apply!)

  • $160,000 - $180,000/year base salary DOE
