Industrial Distribution Sector

For Quebec based in Montreal

Our client, a leader in the distribution of industrial products (bringing together the biggest brands for consumers), wishes to benefit from the experience and expertise of a General Sales Manager for the province of Quebec.

Reporting to the Regional VP, you will be responsible for generating sales growth and customer loyalty across the network of stores (associated, corporate) in the various specialized segments. In collaboration with your team and the various departments at the head office, you will ensure that the conditions required to achieve not only sales objectives but also the development of the various sectors of activity in the region are put in place.

Main Responsibilities

  • Optimize and grow the region by executing a strategic growth plan focused on developing and coordinating commercial initiatives (for wholesale and retail) by developing the existing network and new distribution channels.
  • Supervise a team of 3 Sales Directors and over 70 Account Managers and Sales Representatives.
  • Act as a liaison between Sales Directors and the Regional Operations team as well as the Head Office team.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of annual plans and budgets for areas under his/her direct control with the participation of the General Manager of Operations. Monitor and coordinate regional sales results against annual planning and budget objectives.
  • Ensure that monthly sales objectives for the region are aligned and integrated to meet expectations and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager of Operations to provide each customer with an unparalleled experience and, in doing so, motivate team members to provide exceptional customer service and extraordinary value to each customer.
  • Develop and implement harmonized sales and operations processes so that everyone is working towards the common goal of increasing customer engagement and sales through an unparalleled customer experience.
  • Takes the lead role in his/her region with respect to sales development initiatives.
  • Ensures good communication with all staff, suppliers and customers, the regional management team and the head office.
  • Monitors overall performance against budget and sales performance indicators and ensures opportunities for improvement, their implementation and the follow-up of corrective measures.
  • Visits associated stores regularly to establish good relationships, respond to requests and resolve potential problems.
  • Represents the company in its relations with suppliers, competitors, industry associations and other similar groups necessary for the overall management of the region. Participates in other outside activities compatible with the responsibilities of the region.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related.
  • 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in the field of distribution (stores – branches).
  • Minimum 5 years in a Sales Management position with proven results.
  • Experience in general management of sales and operations personnel.
  • Ability to take on complex challenges, implement strategies and coach a high-performing team to reach its full potential and maximize results.
  • Ability to establish and maintain long-term relationships, have proven negotiation skills but also conflict management skills and a great listening ability.
  • Demonstrate a great capacity for persuasion, good political finesse and be able to evolve in an environment that can be stressful while controlling your emotions.
  • A natural leader, you are a team player and are able to exert your influence and act as a mentor. You know how to communicate tactfully and be a fine strategist to achieve the set objectives.
  • Highly effective negotiation skills, good judgment and logical thinking.
  • You are comfortable interacting in a matrix structure.
  • Growth management and coaching of a high-performing team.
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment.
  • Bilingualism required.
