Your qualifications and qualities required for this role as project manager:
  • BAC in civil engineering, construction, mechanics or related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in complex project management.
  • Expertise in residential or hotel projects in concrete structures.
  • Strong negotiation skills and good understanding of legal aspects.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Quebec Construction Code and associated regulations.
  • Experience in preparing scopes of work and awarding contracts.
  • Ability to read and interpret various technical plans.
  • Proficiency in computer tools such as Word, Excel, Procore and MS Project.
  • Bilingual French-English.

Requested skills

Reporting to the construction manager and in collaboration with your team, the project manager will have the following responsibilities:

Budget management

  • Ensure rigorous monitoring of construction budgets.
  • Prepare monthly reports detailing the progress of costs and schedules.
  • Manage the drafting of contracts and purchase orders with administrative support.
  • Validate subcontractors’ statements and invoices.

Project management

  • Develop, monitor and adjust work schedules.
  • Supervise the management of calls for tenders and the selection of subcontractors.
  • Check technical drawings submitted by subcontractors and coordinate their validation by professionals.
  • Collaborate with consultants in the design process to ensure compliance with budgets and standards.
  • Manage plan modifications, change orders and budget adjustments.
  • Supervise commissioning stages through to project closure.
  • Supervise quality control operations, deficiency management and after-sales service.
  • Ensure that necessary permits are obtained and tenant improvements are managed.

Site supervision

  • Coordinate construction activities with subcontractors and professionals.
  • Collaborate with health and safety teams.
  • Participate in problem solving on site.
  • Lead or attend coordination meetings with stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper transmission of information related to design intentions.
