Manager, Procurement Strategy

This position is an integral part of the procurement team and will be responsible for small to medium-size and complexity sourcing and contracting initiatives. In this role you will develop sourcing strategies, coordinate supplier selection and lead contract negotiations consistent with an overall category strategy and business unit objectives. In this role, you will also collaborate with category managers and providing business intelligence to enhance data driven business decisions to achieve our goals

Position Responsibilities :

  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute on low to medium value/complexity sourcing projects and contracting efforts

  • Support strategic sourcing projects following a 7-step sourcing methodology

  • Determine sourcing strategy and conduct analysis and negotiations

  • Influence requirements from business partners necessary to evaluate and select suppliers

  • Conduct baseline and market analysis, develop sourcing strategy and conduct contract negotiations

  • Conduct benchmarking and opportunity assessment

  • Create presentations which highlight relevant business process inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement

  • Create presentations for executive leadership

  • Suggest and make changes in existing processes and metrics to increase efficiency & effectiveness

  • Engage with stakeholders to increase data driven decision making

  • Provide sourcing thought leadership and day-to-day oversight of resource activities

  • Manage relations with key business partners and project owners to develop/maintain strong working relationships

  • Support vendor managers in execution of business led initiatives as necessary

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Post graduate degree (business/ analytics preferred)

  • 5+ years of progressive business experience in consulting and/or global supply chain management and/or sourcing and procurement

  • Good knowledge of sourcing and procurement fundamentals and best practices

  • Good knowledge of data analysis

  • Experience in developing operational strategies

  • Advanced MS Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint skills

  • Experience with sourcing and procurement systems and tools

  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent presentation and report writing skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as cross-functionally, comfortable with multi-tasking

  • Familiar with Manulife’s business operations, strategies, and financial environment

Salary range is expected to be between

$84,375.00 CAD - $151,875.00 CAD
