Our Red Chris Mine, located in the heart of Northern British Columbia on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. Our Red Chris operation is now recruiting for the position of Project Engineer- TIA Construction with a competitive base salary between $109,650.00-$129,000 dependant on experience, skills, and qualifications.
Reporting directly to the TIA Construction Principal, the Project Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for heavy civil earthworks construction in the tailings area. The Project Engineer will work on projects related to tailings dam construction, construction resource planning, as well as borrow area, waste dump, and haul road design. The Project Engineer will form part of a design workstream supported by EIT's and professional surveyors.
Position requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Promote and participate in a safe work culture in accordance with Newcrest policies and values
- Track and report material quantities and haulage data
- Create and verify designs utilizing 3D modelling software and GIS software
- Lead constructability reviews and risk assessments
- Support TIA construction team, preparing work scopes, cost estimates, and resource planning.
- Provide input to construction scheduling, in collaboration with earthworks business partners
- Prepare presentations and reports, participate in update or progress meetings
- Assist and support consultants and contractors
- Mining, Civil or Geotechnical Engineering Degree or similar combination of experience/training
- P.eng designation or the eligibility to obtain it.
- Mining and/or heavy earthworks experience
- Proficient with MS Office and managing data sets (MS Excel)
- Exposure to tailings dam design and/or tailings dam construction
- Familiarity with cyclone sand production
- Familiarity with cyclone sand placement methods such as hydraulically placed material
