JOB DESCRIPTION

The Airport Base Manager is responsible for coordinating and supervising the operations and maintenance of aircraft at a specific airport base in Yellowknife and Edmonton. The incumbent ensures that all activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations, while fostering open and motivating dialogue with base employees. The role requires traveling 50% of the time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Airport Operations Management:
  • Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance operations of aircraft to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule regular inspections, repairs, and overhauls according to manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor the shipment of parts and weekly inspections.
  • Coordinate parts requests and the resolution of discrepancies.
  • Ensure that supervised personnel, if any, have the appropriate tools, templates, and equipment.
  • Manage hazardous materials in accordance with current standards and regulations.
  • Handle financial and budget management, and strategic planning.
Safety and Regulatory Compliance Management:
  • Ensure all airport base activities comply with government regulations and aviation industry standards.
  • Coordinate regular inspections by civil aviation authorities and follow up on recommendations and necessary corrections.
  • Report out-of-service maintenance equipment to the Logistics Director.
  • Adhere to Nolinor's Safety and Quality Management System (SQMS).
  • Actively participate in safety meetings and inspections to ensure compliance and operational safety.
Emergency and Critical Situation Management:
  • Develop emergency plans to address incidents such as aircraft breakdowns, accidents, or extreme weather conditions.
  • Coordinate emergency responses, including rescue and recovery operations in case of incidents, in collaboration with the relevant teams.
Employee Relations and Support:
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with airline partners, ground service providers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of airport activities.
  • Manage requests, concerns, and needs of airlines, passengers, and other clients in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Foster constructive dialogue with base employees, support them in their tasks, and motivate them to maintain a productive and safe work environment.
  • Participate in the recruitment, training, and supervision of employees.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Desired Profile:
  • Relevant experience in airport operations management, team supervision, and coordination of aviation activities is an asset.
  • Training in hazardous materials management and warehouse management would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of French and Inuktitut is advantageous.
  • Ability to work in varied weather conditions and be deployed on-site permanently.
  • A college or university degree in a related field would be an advantage.
