Why Join the Assembly & test Team?

As a Production Supervisor, you will report directly to the Senior Manager for the assembly & test department. You will join a dynamic and passionate team of supervisors.

Your main objective will be to manage a team of employees in the assembly & test department and coordinate activities at Pratt & Whitney Canada - Mississauga. As such, you will be responsible for training, managing schedules, assigning tasks and employee evaluations. The assembly & test department build and test highly engineered turbofan engines that are flown all around the world.

You will also be the contact person for internal and external customers, as well as the point of contact for employees and the management team.

The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Mississauga, and is exclusively on-site.

What will your day-to-day look like?

  • Actively participate in the implementation of continuous improvement projects and initiatives/projects in his/her sector of activity aimed at reducing non-quality costs

  • Manage organizational changes and ensure employee flexibility.

  • Supervise and lead a team of skilled assembly and test employees

  • Motivates and creates a team atmosphere on the shop floor

  • Assigns tasks and monitors the pitch throughout the entire production cycle

  • Responsible for coaching, resolving employee issues and serving as a link between employees and management

  • Responsible for employee training, development, performance management, and career development

  • Schedule training and ensures policies, and procedures are met

  • Responsible for EH&S compliance including inspections, investigations and action closure, and promotion of an active caring workplace

  • Engage team in CORE activities and application of tools. Lead robust Quality clinics.

  • Drive and actively participate in continuous improvement projects on the shop floor

  • Appropriate and timely communication of information in contact/staff meetings

  • Administrative tasks including timecards, vacation, schedules, overtime monitoring

What do you need to be successful?

  • College diploma (DEC) or Bachelor's degree (BAC) in Operations Management, Administration, Quality Assurance, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

  • 5 years' management experience

  • You must be fluent in written and spoken English

  • Experience in the aeronautical industry and/or manufacturing company (asset)

  • Experience in leading and developing high-performing teams, groups, projects and/or processes

  • Able to manage department shift schedule, support weekday and weekend overtime as required

  • Must have demonstrated abilities in leading teams from various groups and working closely with internal customers and suppliers to achieve results

  • Must be quality driven and committed to provide quality services in a demanding environment
