Range: $81,116 - $101,390 per year

The Simcoe County District School Board is seeking
qualified applicants for the permanent position of Human Resource Investigations
Advisor. Reporting into the Human Resources Department and to the Human Rights
and Equity Department, this position requires professionalism, diplomacy,
confidentiality, and the ability to work both independently and as a team
member.
The Investigations Advisor is part of a complement of
staff that undertakes investigations of all workplace and child protection
matters. The Investigations Advisor ensures the effective implementation of the
Board’s policy and procedures dealing with alleged employee misconduct
including:

Planning
and conducting workplace investigations including interviewing affected
parties;
·
Working
knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code;
·
Previous
experience conducting human rights investigations, implementing early
intervention strategies, and conflict resolution;
·
Ensuring
the availability of or referral to appropriate supports for affected stakeholders
who have been impacted by employee misconduct;
·
Collect,
source and preserve evidence including interview notes, statements, records and
reports;
·
Analyzing
information provided, documents, evidence, identify gaps and participate in
recommendation outcomes regarding the conduct;
·
Maintenance
of the Investigation Guide and provide direction for system learning in this
area;
·
Create
and maintain a training program for staff involved in the investigation process;
·
Increase
the knowledge base of Principals, Managers and Superintendents acting as a
resource to review investigation plans and outcomes;
·
Providing
HR related advice to Principals, Managers and Superintendents on how to prevent
and respond to employee misconduct, including all forms of culpable behaviour
related to staff;
·
Prepare
reports that are recommendation based reviewing all options and possible
outcomes;
·
Maintenance
of confidential data file system aimed at efficient gathering of
notes/documents. System will need to
ensure that investigation process is consistent and allow for review/trending;
·
Assess
risk for the organization and provide recommendations (ex. Policy/procedure
changes, training, etc.);
·
Building
relationships and partnerships with applicable internal departments, outside
organizations and legal counsel;
·
Building
relationships with union partners regarding processes and procedures regarding
investigations;
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications,
Pertinent Skills and Experience:
·
The
successful candidate will hold a university degree with specialization in a
related discipline, and 5 years progressively responsible experience in dealing
with workplace investigations. An equivalent combination of education and
experience may also be considered;
· Experience, preferably in an educational
setting or a large, complex, unionized human resources environment;
· Excellent computer skills including
experience with data management systems, Google Docs, Office 365, and MS Office
applications (Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, and OneDrive);
· Strong written and verbal communication
skills;
· Excellent analytical, problem solving,
interpersonal and conflict resolution skills;
· Ability to prioritize and work in a
multifunctional environment with competing priorities;
·
Ability
to work independently and as part of a team;
·
Ability
to work with issues of a sensitive and confidential nature;
·
A
driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle is required.

This is a full-time permanent position. The regular
work year for this position is twelve (12) months of the year. The compensation
range for this twelve (12) month position is $81,116 to $101,390 per year
(under review), depending on qualifications and experience. This position is
based on a thirty-five (35) hour work week.
Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is
mandatory for all full-time permanent employees,
even if currently in receipt of an OMERS
pension.
