Sturgeon Public Schools is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Literacy & Numeracy Intervention Teacher.

Successful candidate will work in multiple elementary schools to plan, instruct, and assess a roster of grade 4 students identified as needing targeted literacy and numeracy intervention. The ideal candidate has excellent literacy and numeracy teaching skills and an understanding of early learning progressions. As well, the ideal candidate is an effective communicator and a self-motivated individual who can manage their own schedule and is comfortable working in multiple schools.

Assignment: This is a temporary 0.5 FTE contract position as part of the Learning Disruption Grant provided by Alberta Education. It runs from November 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Education and eligible for a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

Plan and implement literacy and numeracy intervention activities in collaboration with homeroom teachers, Classroom Support Teachers, School Administration, and/or Division Staff

Possess a strong ability to analyze student learning data and plan accordingly using guiding documents from Alberta Education and complementary resources

Demonstrate experience in conducting literacy and numeracy interventions

Implement record keeping to track student progress

Communicate effectively with students using age-appropriate positive reinforcements and/or school specific behaviour strategies
