Job Description:

This role is within the Finance Function, supporting the Investment Solutions (Individual Wealth) business unit, which offers Canadians a diverse lineup of mutual funds, portfolio solutions and guaranteed investments, empowering them to pursue their financial goals at every life stage.

Reporting to the Director Financial Reporting, the Manager Wealth Reporting will be responsible for managing a team of 2-3 individuals, ensuring all financial and regulatory reporting for the Individual Wealth business unit is accurate. The Manager Wealth Reporting will also assist with financial and regulatory reporting for Sun Life Financial Trust, a key subsidiary.

What will you do?

  • Provide leadership, support, and talent development opportunities for a team of financial professionals

  • Manage month-end close for the business area, providing direction and leadership over the preparation of all financial and regulatory reporting for the Individual Wealth business

  • Assist with financial and regulatory reporting for Sun Life Financial Trust, including quarterly financial reports for the Board of Directors

  • Provide oversight for the control environment ensuring appropriate controls are in place and operating effectively

  • Act as a liaison and facilitator with regulatory agencies, external and internal auditors ensuring requests are handled in a timely manner and ensuring appropriate supporting documents are provided

  • Act as ICFR BU Lead coordinating internal control walkthrough meetings with relevant individuals from the business unit, internal and external auditors, or regulatory agencies.

  • Communicate effectively with management and ensure that issues are raised and addressed in a timely manner

What do you need to succeed?

  • A professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) with 3-5 years of accounting and financial reporting experience

  • Business knowledge and experience related to the financial services industry, specifically Sun Life’s individual wealth products and services

  • Experience in an SAP ledger environment and with Power BI

  • Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks or projects simultaneously in a fast -paced environment

  • Previous experience with internal/external audit, risk management, or control development and testing

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with both direct reporting relationships and partnering across the organization

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

  • Knowledge of and experience with Sun Life’s internal administration systems including Prism, Ingenium and LA

  • Strong interpersonal skills are required due to frequent interaction with all levels throughout the organization and various external vendors

  • Continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities to leverage technology to streamline or automate processes and create efficiencies

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
