About the role:

Supporting Canadians in their decumulation journey - how they will drawdown their savings and spend their money in retirement - is a critical way that Sun Life is helping Clients achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.

The Product Manager, Decumulation, manages innovative retirement solutions improving Client-focused income products that offer meaningful value in the competitive workplace retirement services sector.

The Manager orchestrates the implementation of new products and iterative features, bringing releases to market and accelerating the underlying operational improvements. As the internal product expert, the Manager enables the business analysis, manufacturing, digital development, operational processes, go-to-market launch and governance processes to ensure product performance.

The Manager cultivates strong collaborative relationships with internal and external partners to hone products to better meet the needs of Clients and accelerate results, working with business development, marketing, CXO, digital enterprise, legal, compliance, finance and operations.

What will you do?

Product strategy, roadmap and business management

  • Provides thought leadership and a strategic approach to honing new capabilities and making recommendations for product improvements, leveraging performance insights and data to prioritize improvements. Develops business cases and secures support from leadership and stakeholders.

Product performance and change management

  • Orchestrates the digital, operational, sales and financial teams processes and systems that enable the product’s performance, managing for efficiency and effectiveness.

Product marketing and member engagement

  • Manages the go-to-market and in-market performance of products, aligning teams and practices to drive outstanding Client experience. Aligns key messaging, product education and training materials, and ensuring the accuracy of communications, navigating review and consultation channels.

Product operational management

  • Manages internal, industry, legislative and compliance requirements, navigating ambiguity and manages stakeholders, and delivering product documentation, tools, models, reporting and integrations to drive business decision making.

Product reporting and analysis

  • Manages performance reporting and make recommendations to stakeholders through coordinated governance programs.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the retirement services industry.
  • Decumulation industry knowledge and familiarity with legislative environment, as well as knowledge of savings and income product features and benefits.
  • A passion for developing outstanding wealth solutions and experiences to meet the needs of retiring Canadians. Enthusiasm for refining processes, products and services with great attention to detail.
  • Advanced project management skills with the ability to handle multiple high-priority tasks while maintaining a high standard of accuracy. Strong knowledge of Agile development methodologies and flexibility to lead project working groups.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience defining, designing and bringing financial products to market, working in cross-functional teams to deliver B2B/B2C campaigns.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience with industry networks and legislation as well as working with compliance and legal teams and managing regulatory changes across multiple channels.
  • Advanced analytic skills and experience collaborating with finance teams in evaluating, developing insights, identifying risks and providing recommendations to achieve product and financial objectives.
  • Advanced MS Office, PowerPoint and Excel skills, with experience creating Excel models, synthesizing data and conducting analysis to deliver complex business recommendations and effective presentations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Expert knowledge of the broader wealth marketplace and financial product pricing methodologies
  • Familiar with the savings and income products offered by Sun Life
  • Post-secondary education in business, commerce, computer science, or equivalent

Unique Requirements:

  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
