We are looking for an Optical Process Engineer

Job objective
The incumbent is responsible for overseeing and improving production processes, developing and teaching assembly techniques, improving manufacturing processes, resolving production-related problems, and promoting quality throughout production and related services.

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to :

Production support and maintenance of 4 processes
- Write, in collaboration with product development engineers, process documentation, work instructions, equipment operating instructions and qualification procedures.
- Define and monitor KPIs for supported processes
- Participate in preventive maintenance of production equipment for supported processes
- Take charge of repairs, or liaise with equipment suppliers, in the event of breakdowns or malfunctions impacting production.

Continuous improvement
- Carry out equipment improvement projects to support and facilitate production
- Keep procedures up to date in the event of changes in the manufacturing process, and train employees accordingly

Quality and customer feedback
- Collaborate with various departments and services to inspect and deal with non-conformities and customer feedback on supported processes.
- Perform audits, including preparing and carrying out audits, creating reports on results, determining appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Analyze causes of defects, monitor KPIs and prepare regular reports.
- Maintain and prepare quality assurance reports.

Employee training and management
- Train and integrate new employees on supported processes.
- Ensure that, following the transfer of new products to production, processes, requirements and specifications are respected at all times.
- Manage a team of 5 people on one of the supported processes
- Organize work between employees, monitor individual productivity

Requested skills

Qualifications
Experience :
Minimum 3-5 years experience in a similar position.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in engineering physics (an asset), mechanical engineering, automation.

Specialized knowledge and skills:

  • Basic computer knowledge such as, but not limited to, Microsoft products.
  • Mastery of statistical process control techniques, six sigma (an asset);
  • Member of OIQ (an asset);
  • Experience in production process automation (an asset);
  • Experience in optical manufacturing processes (an asset);
  • Leadership skills;
  • Ability to work in French and English (written and oral), in order to communicate with foreign customers and suppliers.
