General Purpose

Working in the Toxicology section of the Animal Health Laboratory (AHL), the successful candidate will be responsible for performing HPLC, GC/MS/MS and LC/MS/MS analysis on a wide variety of organic analytes (including unknown analyte investigations) in matrices including animal tissues and fluids, animal feed, stomach contents and feces, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

Receiving and preparing samples; extracting, performing analysis and confirming positive results; performing instrument maintenance; method development and validation; reporting data into the laboratory information management system (LIMS); and general laboratory activities including inventory tracking, preparation of reagents and standards, storage and disposal of samples.

Requirements

  • Three-year community college program with an emphasis on medical, chemical technologies or instrumental analysis, plus 10-12 months of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and experience using HPLC, GC/MS/MS and LC/MSMS instrumentation, related analysis, maintenance and method development/validation;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability and a strong chemistry background;
  • Proven experience with quality control including appropriate trouble-shooting activities;
  • Exceptional self-motivational skills combined with strong communication skills to work effectively in both a team and individual environment;
  • Experience working with a recognized quality management system (ISO/IEC 17025, AAVLD or OECD GLP);
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, client-focused environment with an emphasis on producing quality results.


Must be, or be willing to be, rabies vaccinated.
