Job Summary


The Team
The Ministry of Citizens’ Services has committed to modernize and improve freedom of information (FOI) services across government. Led by an Agile product team, this modernization includes new technology and business processes to support the large volume of FOI requests received each year. By improving tools and streamlining the FOI process, the project improves the experience of applicants who make FOI requests and of the staff who process these requests.

Using SCRUM the Agile team delivers features and updates in two-week sprints with requirements and development activities planned throughout each sprint. The SCRUM team includes a product owner, SCRUM master, business analyst, subject matter expert, UI/UX designer and software developers.

The Role
The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a larger SCRUM team and contribute towards "sprint goals" set on regular intervals. The successful candidate should also work well as part of a larger, self-organizing team that works on the principles of continuous improvement and continuous delivery.

In addition to working as part of the SCRUM team, the successful candidate will also be required to lead user experience research and design for other divisional initiatives.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a computer science related field and 2 years of related experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer science related field and 3 years of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in a computer science related field and 4 years related experience; OR
  • Certificate or coursework in a computer science related field and 5 years related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


Related experience includes the following:

  • Experience designing impeccable production-ready web interfaces, including graphic design and interaction design.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience of working in an agile, digital product- focused development environment with User Experience teams, designers, and developers to iteratively create and improve digital products and services.
  • Experience with related UX practices and skills, including content design, content strategy and information architecture.
  • Experience producing and working with design pattern/asset libraries.
  • Experience mentoring and supporting less experienced UX practitioners.
  • Experience leading UX research studies, including creating research plans and using techniques such as UX interviews, usability tests, and co-design sessions.
  • Experience reporting out the results and recommendations of user research to interest holders, including executive.
