About this opportunity

Cenovus’s New Grad Program aims to attract, develop and retain exceptional new grads to build a top talent pipeline for the company. The program provides new grads with a broad understanding of Cenovus’s core business through challenging work assignments, training and development, field exposure and the opportunity to develop a large network of contacts through networking and mentorship opportunities.

Our Program consists of three consecutive 12-month rotational assignments that span Cenovus’s varied business areas. Upon completion of the three-year program, you will be matched to a permanent role within the organization. This role will be based on business need and relocation may be required.

Within the HR Function, your rotations could sit within many exciting business units, including:

What you’ll do

Responsibilities may include:

  • Provide timely and accurate transactional support for employee life cycle events through partnering with the business and internal HR teams.
  • Maintain knowledge of organizational and departmental policies and procedures to be able to answer general employee and leader inquiries, while adhering to Cenovus’s values and practices
  • Assist with the creation of materials related to HR procedures and policies (e.g. process documentation FAQs, quick-reference cards etc.)
  • Support HR processes such as annual compensation cycles, performance and development reviews, benefit enrolment and others.
  • Participate in projects to develop, review, and improve HR processes.

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Available to begin work June 2025
  • Must have an undergraduate Human Resources, Business, or Management related program degree obtained by May 31, 2025 and completed within the last 2 years (2023, 2024 or 2025).
  • Previous experience within HR inclusive of summer co-op/internships is an asset.
  • Desire to pursue a long-term career within the energy sector and in Human Resources
  • Naturally curious with a growth mindset.
  • Ability to interpret data and provide insights.
  • Strong prioritization and organization.
  • Working ability to adjust communication in various mediums to various audiences.
  • Proactive and collaborator.
  • The Program aims to develop employees at the beginning of their careers, and as such, you must have less than 2 years of professional experience related to your discipline of study (not including co-op or student position).
