The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled IT Specialist to join their Information Management Group (IMG) on a full-time, contract basis for one year. This opportunity is located at the Queen Street West site and presents a unique chance to contribute to a significant redevelopment project within a leading mental health facility.

Support for CAMH Redevelopment Project

The main responsibility for the IT Specialist will be to provide support for the CAMH Redevelopment Project, focusing on IOT and integration between IT supported systems, servers in a hybrid environment, AV systems and collaboration tools such as MS Teams, Cisco Webex, and other collaboration platforms. This project involves the installation and upgrade of multiple systems required for building function including, but not limited to, network (wired and Wi-Fi), Building Automation Systems, Access Control Systems, and advanced AV systems to enhance communication and educational capabilities throughout the facility. The successful candidate will ensure that these systems are implemented efficiently, tested and function optimally.

Collaboration with Outsourced Vendor

The CAMH network is managed by an outsourced partner, and the IT Specialist will be required to work closely with this vendor. The goal is to ensure that the IT environment is running at peak performance and tested prior to building occupancy and beyond. Support expertise should include knowledge of network technologies (Cisco wired and Wi-Fi), Cisco Call Manager, knowledge of major collaboration platforms such as MS teams, Webex, and other collaboration platforms, and a knowledge of server infrastructure (in a hybrid environment). This involves regular communication, troubleshooting and coordination with the vendor(s) to address any issues promptly.

Performance Analysis and Documentation

The IT Specialist will be tasked with analyzing and documenting application performance characteristics for CAMH applications. This will involve a detailed assessment of how applications perform under various conditions and identifying any potential bottlenecks or inefficiencies. Based on these analyses, the Specialist will provide recommendations and implement solutions to optimize application performance.

Technical Recommendations and Infrastructure Support

The role also includes providing technical recommendations for projects that require IT infrastructure input. This may involve advising on network configurations, Quality of Service (QOS) settings, and virtualization technologies. The IT Specialist will need to stay up to date with the latest advancements in these areas to offer informed guidance.

Additional Duties

While the primary focus will be on the redevelopment-related infrastructure, the IT Specialist may also be required to support other IT-related technologies. This could include general IT support tasks, troubleshooting, and maintenance as needed.

The IT Specialist will also be expected to support project delivery by providing subject matter expertise and playing a coordination role for various tasks, as requested and under the oversight of a project manager.
