Our client is seeking a Director of Underwriting in Commercial Property to oversee underwriting guidelines for their national commercial property portfolio. This individual will serve as the technical point of reference across Canada, driving maximum efficiency and productivity across the organization. You will take a proactive approach to identify opportunities for profitable growth, contribute your technical expertise to the team and cross-functional departments such as actuarial, claims, and risk services.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying trends and growth opportunities within a national commercial property portfolio
  • Staying informed on industry developments and adhering to regulatory frameworks
  • Creating and updating underwriting guidelines and wordings
  • Leading and mentoring a team of underwriters in corporate underwriting and product development
  • Enhancing the technical skills of the underwriting team

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial property underwriting with strong acumen in wordings and guidelines
  • At least 3 years in a leadership role
  • A strong understanding of the insurance industry trends and regulations across Canada
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
