Description
The Director of IRM Assurance COE Execution provides a strategic opportunity to lead and assess risk management activities within our organization. This role ensures that risk is managed effectively by executing 2nd line assurance assessments on 1st line control design and operating effectiveness. You will contribute to our mission by providing objective assessments that build confidence in our risk management practices. The position offers the chance to develop and lead a team, driving quality and timely assurance activities.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute the 2nd line information risk assurance and control testing annual plan.
- Scope assurance and control testing activities, providing direction to team members.
- Perform assurance activities in areas such as business continuity planning, disaster recovery, and technology risk management.
- Ensure assurance procedures are conducted in accordance with GIRM Methodologies.
- Document objective assessments and publish assurance reports.
- Manage a team of assurance executors, ensuring delivery of quality assurance milestones.
- Support multiple assurance projects, ensuring time and quality objectives are met.
- Advocate for a strong information risk culture and stay updated on evolving risks and regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in Information Security and/or technology risk within a large enterprise.
- Demonstrated experience in control testing and/or assurance.
- University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline preferred.
- 2nd or 3rd line of defense experience.
- Sound knowledge of best practices in information risk management.
- Recognized professional designations (e.g., CISSP, CISA, CRISC).
- Knowledge of the regulatory environments in the U.S. and Canada.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous risk advisory consulting experience.
- Strong business writing skills.
- Competencies in collaboration, problem-solving, and influencing key risk decisions.
- People management experience.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.

Salary range is expected to be between
$107,730.00 CAD - $200,070.00 CADIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
