Overview

Are you passionate about software quality and test automation? The Manulife Insurance Technology team is seeking a leader, experienced and motivated Software Quality Engineer who is self-directed with learning agility who will develop, maintain and tests data pipelines, application framework, and performance testing then this role is for you.

As a Software Quality Engineer, you will:

  • Review and translate requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide meaningful feedback to product developers
  • Build, maintain and implement automated regression and performance test scripts using Selenium, X-ray, Postman & JMeter
  • Analyze automation results and investigate failures
  • Design detailed and comprehensive test plans and cases
  • Perform manual functional and regression testing where automation is not applicable
  • Identify test KPIs for product quality and product reporting metrics
  • Track quality assurance metrics such as defect densities & defect frequency first time pass rate
  • Take active role in creating BDD feature sets. Help developers write good and repeatable unit tests
  • Keep up to date on the latest test software and frameworks
  • Drive software development process to quality-centric methodologies
  • Identify Quality Assurance process bottlenecks and design and implement solutions
  • Control, update and distribute new and revised quality standards and technical changes
  • Prepare and deliver formal quality audit reports

You will bring and continuously build upon the following skills:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience specifically in software quality assurance
  • Sophisticated level of expertise in test automation
  • Experience writing broad test plans and cases
  • Ability to identify standard processes and where they should be applied (ex. risk-based testing)
  • Familiarity with closed system and open system testing practices
  • Experience with Automation technologies such as VB Script, Selenium, DevTest, TestNG, Robot, Perfecto, SOAP UI, Jenkins, Cucumber, Meter, Postman and other testing frameworks and tools
  • Confirmed knowledge of different testing techniques i.e. UI testing, automated testing, behavior driven testing
  • Experience with Agile practices and tools such as JIRA and Confluence
  • Collaborative demeanor, willingness to work with team members; able to mentor, participate in code reviews, share skills and methods
  • Continuously learn from both success and failure
  • Good organizational and problem-solving abilities that enable you to lead through creative abrasion
  • Good verbal and written communication; optimally articulate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes
  • Experiments with new technologies and understanding how they will affect what comes next
  • Degree or equivalent experience" in computer science or technical field

Salary range is expected to be between

$75,880.00 CAD - $140,920.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
